A Lovely Weekend In Bath

Two weekends ago I went to Bath with my sister Sarah and my Dad for my Mum's birthday surprise (she knew nothing about it). My dad had booked rooms at the Holiday Inn Express Bath (a lovely hotel if I may say), and a restaurant for dinner.
As soon as Sarah and I got to Bath on Saturday, we realised why millions of tourists come to Bath every year - it's such a beautiful city. When we met up with my mum at the hotel, she was very surprised. After going to the rooms and unpacking, we headed to the Roman Baths, something everyone should definitely see, whether you're interested in Roman History or not. After seeing the beautiful baths and putting my finger in the water (which is actually really warm) and finding out about the history, we went for a little look around the shops in the town, some of which are so cute and unique. Later on, it was time for dinner. We went to a lovely Italian restaurant called Ponte Vecchio, where their margarita pizza is the bomb!

Sunday brought gorgeous weather, but also chaos. We didn't realise that it was the Bath Half-Marathon, so all the roads were closed and the taxis had to take the long way round completely avoiding the city centre to pick us up to go to the shops. We heard that comedian Russell Howard was running in the Half-Marathon, and we stood by the side of the road to hopefully see him, but we never got to see him. But we still enjoyed the atmosphere of the race and cheering everyone on.

My mum and dad split up with us to go home after a few hours of watching the race, so we had to say our goodbyes. It had been a great weekend with them :) but Sarah & I then went to Cosy Club for lunch and a little shop around before heading home ourselves.
