Beth Hart - Fire On The Floor (2016)

Dubbed "the ultimate female rockstar" by The Blues Magazine reflects just how long a career singer/songwriter Beth Hart has had - after rising to fame in the 90s with a few hit singles, 'LA Song' being the most notable, reaching number 1 in New Zealand and featuring in 90210, only raising her profile further.

She's now bringing soul into a new generation with Fire on The Floor, with opener 'Jazz Man' being a great benchmark for the album - which she constantly blows away throughout. Her voice could be likened to that of Florence Welch but Hart has more depth and emotion to the way she delivers a song, and 'Love Gangster' reflects this massively along with the Jazz melody and orchestra instruments in perfect harmony with each other.

She channels her Carrie Underwood in 'Fat Man', a Country masterpiece that is sure to take over the radio waves of Nashville sometime soon. There's also a sense of adventure and risk in this song, as if Hart is taking a leap into this genre and she's right to take that leap, as it's worked out so well for her sound and particularly this song.

With one listen of 'Fire On The Floor' you gain a sense of passion for what this means to Hart, as well as praying for her vocal chords as she practically screams "I'm gonna stay and play with his fire / on the floor" atop more Jazz melodies. 'Woman You've Been Dreaming Of' certainly slows things down a lot and shows a different dimension to Hart's music; that her sorrow and disappointment is very real and sounds if she may cry at any moment, starting me off and you as well I'm sure.

Fire On The Floor is a great experiment of different genres that has most certainly worked. It's got Jazz, Country and even a ballad; ideal for someone looking to explore any of these genres. Hart's hit the nail on the head with this one.

Featured Artist - Chilé

London-based trio Chilé are very new to the industry, but are already making a big name for themselves. Their Synth-Pop, electronic-infused singles are definitely going to be big club hits and be on chill-out playlists too. They've got an EP due out later this year and I for one can't wait to hear it. If debut single 'Every Outline' is something to go by, then I'm very excited indeed.

The warm Pop beat and heavy synths of 'Every Outline' are a huge part of the band's personality, with a muted but thumping bass throughout the single and the ghostly vocals are what definitely make it - it's sure to be a summer banger in 2017.

The single was inspired by someone they met by the name of Sue Chamber, "whose faith and incredibly positive energy changed our attitude towards life." Chilé also dedicated their single to "anyone who suffers Addison's disease", how very charitable of them. 'Every Outline' is just a teaser of what's to come from these London Pop performers.

Green Day - Revolution Radio (2016)

You would've heard Green Day's music somewhere, as their career spanning three decades has brought them a place in the Hall Of Fame, a Broadway musical and countless albums and tours. Following on from the ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré! trilogy of 2012 comes Revolution Radio, sounding more like the politically-charged album titles the band are well-known for.

[Source]
Their twelfth studio album starts with 'Somewhere Now'the usual blow-your-ears-off raucous guitars are missing, but the song is instead reminiscent of ¡Viva la Gloria! from 2009's 21st Century Breakdown, quiet and serene. The California born-and-raised trio soon revert to type as the drilling guitars punch their way through later in the opener and this track alone shows that they're back on top form.

Title track 'Revolution Radio' is the perfect scenario for mosh-pit lovers, it's loud and a party within a song. Not forgetting it has a political element to it within the lyrics, with "Give me cherry bombs and gasoline / debutantes and surgery / and the headline 'legalise the truth'" being screamed through the chorus as Billie-Joe spits venom towards the establishment with every word.

'Bouncing Off The Wall' is one of the most lively on the album, with the party vibe popping up again throughout. Being one of the shortest tracks, it definitely packs a lot of punch and just a tip - don't wear your headphones too loud at the end, as the screeching guitars will make your ears bleed, unless you want that of course. In which case go for it, fill your boots.

Being Green Day you would expect more expletives in an album, but there's only one song with the 'EXPLICIT' label on Spotify and iTunes, 'Youngblood'. Even so it shows that Green Day have still indeed got it and after three decades of making music, they have enough politically charged motivation to create music that resonate with anyone, and Revolution Radio will probably gain them a fair few new fans. The trio have nailed it once again.

Buy Revolution Radio on iTunes, Spotify and on Amazon (UK | US), as well as the Green Day Store. Follow Green Day on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to see with what they're doing. Don't forget to follow me on Facebook to keep up with my posts as soon as they're published.
